Training on how to set up concrete formwork

Quality construction begins with proper preparation. At OES Equipment, we use our technical expertise and strong supplier partnerships to give our customers the training and tools they need on the jobsite from day one.
OES, a DPR Construction family company, recently brought more than 60 team members together for a three-day elevated concrete structure training at DPR’s Richmond, VA office. James Woodruff, OES Shoring and Formwork Subject Matter Expert, designed hands-on sessions for DPR’s local concrete self-perform crew.

The project-specific training was on building columns and walls for an upcoming multi-story healthcare expansion. The team moved from classroom instruction to hands-on practice, working directly with the shoring and formwork systems they’ll use on the project.

“The simulation we created successfully mirrors the environment in which the DPR team will be working,” said Woodruff. “The crew gave positive feedback that this training has prepared them well for the task at hand.”

Woodruff also arranged with OES suppliers Doka and Nox-Crete to participate in the training. Doka supplied sample drawings and guided practice on project-specific formwork systems, while Nox-Crete trained the crew on proper application of its form release to produce a better concrete finish and leave a fully dried, non-slippery work surface.

This training gives DPR’s team a foundation for working safely and efficiently on the project ahead.
